FOR NEW PATIENTS : when booking a new assessment, it is highly recommended that you book at least one follow up appt approx 7-10 days after your initial session. If it turns out that this is not needed, adjustments can be made. This will help ensure continuity of care.
**ALL PATIENTS** : Please note that I only open my schedule for booking approximately 2 months in advance. If you do not see appts available beyond a specific date it is likely because I am fully booked for the next two months and have not yet opened up my schedule beyond this. I encourage you to keep checking back regularly for new spots. In addition, you can add your name to my wait list.
ABOUT ME: My passion is helping people learn how to move better and to be able to do the activities they love freely. I strongly believe in empowering my clients and providing them with the knowledge and tools to help manage any of their concerns.

Peter grew up in Bolton, Ontario and moved to Vancouver seeking to be closer to the mountains and ocean. He graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelors in Human Kinetics and a minor in Neuroscience and went on to complete his Masters in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University.
Since graduating, he has completed the Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative Therapy portion in the Graduate Certificate in Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy (GCOMPT) program at UBC and became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy (FCAMPT) in 2021.
Peter has always wanted to work in a medical field following his passion for science and helping people who need it most. The application of movement and exercise in a health-care context made Physiotherapy a perfect fit. As someone who participated in multiple sports growing up, including soccer, skiing and mountain biking, injuries were a big part of Peter’s life. This resulted in him working closely and learning from various Physiotherapist’s, inspiring him by the impact they had in helping to treat his injuries, as well as how drastically they changed his lifestyle for the better.
Peter is passionate about ongoing education and has a long time goal of teaching in the future. Outside of work, he is either traveling (not so much these days) or trying to stay active by hiking, climbing, mountain biking, or playing soccer or volleyball in the city. Come winter time, he tries to get out skiing as often as he can.

Laura graduated with her M.OMSc. diploma (Masters in Osteopathic Manual Sciences), a 4-year, full-time program providing Canada’s highest standards (4200 hours) of education and clinical practice. She is in good standing with the Osteopathy Canada Association (OSTCAN). She also holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Ottawa. As an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner she is dedicated to providing safe, effective treatments, patient education, and facilitating patients optimal health so they have less pain, more energy, and more good days. Her curiosity and commitment to excellence in her practice is a driving force in providing patients with an unparalleled level of care.
Laura believes that the whole person should be considered when dealing with health, something that she feels is often missing from mainstream healthcare. This is why Laura combines her intuition and compassion with objective findings to make patients feel truly heard and cared for. She is passionate about offering effective, trauma informed osteopathic treatment and facilitating health for her patients. Having received osteopathic care for over 20 years she knows firsthand how effective it is for everything from chronic illness, repetitive strain, concussions and muscle injuries, to digestive issues and menstruation pain. She can’t wait for you to experience the difference Osteopathy can make!
Osteopathy treats the cause of your pain, not just the symptoms you experience. If only the symptoms are dealt with, the discomfort will keep coming back. With a finely tuned sense of touch (palpation) developed over thousands of hours of practice, Laura aims to find and correct the root cause of your pain or dysfunction so that symptoms disappear or decrease naturally. This is done with manipulations of the joints, muscles, fascia, and neurovasculature pathways back to structural balance through an osteopathic treatment process. Fixing to root cause often results in fewer treatments and longer lasting results. Because each body is always changing, every treatment is unique to the individual.
If you have further questions, check out the frequently asked questions below or reach out to me directly at info@lauramillerosteopathy.com. I look forward to seeing you in the clinic soon!
Frequently Asked Questions
What does treatment look like?
Together the patient and practitioner will review the health history and discuss goals for treatment. Patients stay fully clothed and will be asked to sit, stand, and lay down on a table in positions that are comfortable to them. Assessment and treatment requires the practitioner to be physically close to the patient. They will use their knowledge of functional anatomy, biomechanics and finely tuned sense of palpation (touch) to find and gently correct areas of restriction. You can expect your Osteopathic treatment to be between 20-30 minutes depending on the requirements to affect change in your body that day and at what stage of the treatment process you are in.
What is Principles Based Osteopathy?
Osteopathy works by restoring physiological function through anatomical/structural adjustments made to areas of restriction in the body. Osteopathy is its own science, philosophy, and treatment process founded by Dr. A.T. Still in 1874 - it’s not an “add-on” course to any other modality. Other therapists may offer osteopathic inspired techniques in conjunction with their main services (ie. massage), but it is important to note there is a vast difference in these approaches.
Restriction in the body can present as limited range of motion or change in the tissues. Lack of motion affects all systems in the body from arterial blood supply, venous blood return, nervous system function and lymphatic circulation which all play into the presentation of symptoms in the patient.
Principle-based treatment utilizes tools such as joint mobilization, spinal manipulation, cranial sacral therapy, and soft tissue therapy to restore motion on a structural level and effect change on a physiological level. Because it doesn’t only rely on a set of techniques, treatment is fully customized to fit each patients unique presentation and mechanism of injury.
Who should see an Osteopathic Practitioner?
Osteopathy can effectively bring relief and provide a long term solution for individuals dealing with acute pain such a spasms, strains and sprains; chronic pain, headaches and migraines, digestive complaints, neurological disorders, sports related pain, pregnancy related pain and discomforts. In addition, Osteopathy for proactive care is a wonderful option. Assessing and removing restriction in the body before it presents as symptoms can be the best course of action.
Is it safe?
Yes, osteopathy is a safe and effective treatment when performed by a qualified practitioner. It is a non-invasive approach that focuses on structural adjustments to facilitate health in the body. Osteopathy is safe for all ages, athletes, during pregnancy (after the 1st trimester) and elderly individuals. A qualified Manual Osteopathic Practitioner is trained to identify “red flags” and will refer a patient out to a practitioner with the required scope of practice to deal with their case if needed. Also, Practitioner’s screen patients through health history and questioning to ensure they are a good candidate for osteopathic treatment prior to staring treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies depending on the condition and individual response to treatment. Your Manual Osteopathic Practitioner will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs upon your initial appointment. This timeline is variable depending on the patient’s overall health and lifestyle. The goal is to find the root cause of dysfunction, facilitate health in the body and allow your body to be in a more resilient state to continue without frequent ongoing care.
Can Osteopathy be combined with other treatments?
Yes, Osteopathy can complement other medical treatments and therapies. It is often part of a comprehensive approach to healthcare. Patients should continue ongoing care with their physician and participate in routine medical exams. Osteopathy can work in conjunction with other complementary therapies as well; however, the patient should inform the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner of all other types of ongoing care as it may alter the timeline and dosage of the osteopathic treatment plan.
